BRUNI felt that something was wrong with Miles on September 10, 1991. She had just seen him perform at the Concord Jazz Festival. He looked and sounded great, so she was very puzzled. The feeling continued, and when she finished the painting, she felt sure he was very sick.

She called DJ's all around, but nobody knew anything. Then she called Leonard Feather, who confirmed that Miles had had a stroke and was hospitalized.

Miles passed away on 9/28/91.
